Becomming an officer
Qualifications for Office
- Be a regular, full-time, year-round student at
Tri-County Technical College as stipulated
- Be willing and able to devote the time
necessary to fulfill the duties of office
- Be approved by the Election Committee
- Be in good academic standing with a cumulative
grade point ratio of 2.0 or greater (a first semester freshman elected to a
Student Government Association office must receive a 2.0 grade point ratio that first semester to maintain the
position)
- Be in good standing with the student body
Note: Candidates should
not have any student code of conduct violations or outstanding school fines.
Student Government Association Officer General

President |
- Act as an official representative of Tri-County Technical College Student Government Association
- Call special sessions of the Student Legislative Senate
- Nominate and appoint members to the various committees
- Act as liaison to the Administration from Student Government
- Preside over meeting of the Executive Council
- Coordinate the office hours of the Executive members
- Plan agendas and coordinate SGA meetings
- Be responsible for planning and implementing all Student Government Association functions
Special Duties: Represent the Student Body at Graduation, Awards Ceremony, and other college functions and events as requested by SGA Advisor. |
Vice President |
- Upon request of the SGA President, act as official representative of the Tri-County Technical College Student Government Association
- Assume the office of President if the President is unable to carry out the duties of office
- Preside over SGA meeting in President’s absence and request
- Promote social standards
- Serve on Executive Council
- Cast vote in the event of a tie in Student Legislative Senate
- Assist in planning for advertisement for events/activities, updating web information pertaining to SGA, and posting of advertisements
- Monitor and maintain bulletin boards
- Be responsible for planning and implementing all Student Government Association functions

Secretary |
- Keep minutes of meetings
- Maintain roll at meetings
- Perform secretarial/clerical duties as assigned by the President and Vice President in matters concerning the Student Government Association such as preparing minutes, agendas, correspondence, announcements
- Serve on Executive Council
- Maintain an organized filing system
- Be responsible for planning and implementing all Student Government Association functions
Special Duties: Represent the Student Body at Graduation, Awards Ceremony, and other college functions and events as requested by SGA Advisor. |
Treasurer |
- Report Financial Status, per request of Executive Council
- Communicate with vendors and obtain costs for services
- Prepare and submit budget portion of proposal
- Perform the duties of the Secretary, if secretary is unable to do so
- Serve on Executive Council
- If applicable, to oversee any fundraising events with Advisor input
- Be responsible for planning and implementing all Student Government Association functions
Special Duties: Represent the Student Body at Graduation, Awards Ceremony, and other college functions and events as requested by SGA Advisor. Serve as historian for SGA by communicating news of SGA activities/events to PR, requesting photographs of all activities and maintaining an organized system of all SGA activities and events |

**SGA Officers are expected to participate in and complete the annual SCTEA Community Service
Project. |
All Officers are expected to:
- attend meetings
- maintain open, respectful, communication
- keep SGA Advisor informed, and
- connect with fellow students to get them involved in campus activities.
