COOPERATIVE EDUCATIONCooperative Education (Co-op) is a structured academic program that provides learning experiences that occur at a worksite in ways that reinforce and supplement classroom learning, provide meaningful work experience, and contribute to the student's career development. Co-op positions are paid, and many include other benefits such as employer-sponsored tuition. At the present time, co-op experiences do not result in College credit. Highlights of this program include:
INTERNSHIPSInternships include worksite learning that meets specific classroom objectives, provides valuable experience, and helps the student refine or confirm his/her career goals. Highlights of this program include:
APPRENTICESHIPSApprenticeships include classroom and work-based learning that is purposefully integrated, closely supervised and requires a specified number of hours of classroom studies and worksite training. Registered apprenticeship positions are paid, and in most cases include other benefits such as employer-sponsored tuition grants or reimbursement. Credit for the work-based learning component of the program may be applicable toward journeyworker certification.
