Pat Seawright Receives Adjunct Faculty
Presidential Award at Tri-County Technical College

PENDLETON ---Pat Seawright, an English instructor and coordinator
of the Writing Center at Tri-County Technical College, is the recipient
of the 2005 Adjunct Faculty Presidential Award at the College.
This
award is given annually at the faculty/staff convocation to the adjunct
faculty member who is recognized for excellence in teaching, who has
consistently high student evaluations and who supports the philosophy
and goals of the College.
Colleagues who nominated Mrs. Seawright for the award commended her
for demonstrating excellence in teaching, service and mentoring. In
addition to teaching on campus, Mrs. Seawright teaches three dual credit
classes at Wren High School, one of which is a sunrise class held at
6:45 a.m. "She is always willing to help students with concerns
or problems," said Robin McFall, English department head at Tri-County.
"She sits down one-on-one with the students and helps them to understand
assignments. The students respond positively to her, and guidance counselors
request her as the instructor for dual credit classes.
Mrs. Seawright retired from Anderson School District 5 in 2001 after
31 years of service. During her career, she was an English teacher and
later served as assistant principal and principal at McDuffie High School
and principal at Southwood Middle School. Before her retirement she
was director of community education at the District 5 office. She began
teaching for Tri-County shortly after retiring and has been coordinator
of the Writing Center for one year.
She holds a master's degree plus 30 hours in Educational Supervision
and a B.S. in Secondary Education in English from Clemson University.
She and her husband, Robbie, live in Belton. They have a son and two
granddaughters.
