PENDLETON --- TriO's Student Support Services program at Tri-County Technical College continues its community outreach activities with its 13th Annual College and Career Fair March 1.

Student Support Services is partnering with colleges and businesses once again to offer students and the community the opportunity to network with dozens of representatives from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. in the College's Cafeteria. The event is free and open to the public.

Soon-to-be graduates and those seeking employment are invited to bring their resumes and meet with prospective employers. College representatives will be accepting applications and talking individually with those who are planning to transfer to senior institutions. Participating colleges include: Allen University, Anderson University, Charleston Southern University, Clemson University, Southern Wesleyan University and many others.

To date, participating businesses and industries include: Athens Regional Medical Center, Timken Corporation, Duke Energy, Charter Communications, Cingular Wireless, Bank of America, Itron and ETCON Staffing.

Cindy Trimmier-Lee, coordinator of Student Support Services, advises attendees to come prepared with resumes in hand and questions about the job market.

“We urge everyone to take advantage of the unique opportunity of having a number of resources in one place,” said Mrs. Trimmier-Lee. “We are open to the community and offer hands-on information about colleges and businesses,” she said.

Other TRiO community outreach activities have included partnering with local and state law enforcement to collect small, stuffed animals (new and old) to give to children in crisis; an ongoing food drive for the tri-county area; sponsoring a child for Christmas; donating coats for children at the beginning of winter; and collecting needed items for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

For more information about upcoming TRiO activities, contact Cindy Trimmier-Lee at 646-1592.
