PENDLETON --- Tri-County Technical College is one of the stops on Dave Cooper’s Mountaintop Removal Road Show tour of the Southeast.

Guest speaker Cooper, a volunteer with the Mountaintop Removal Road Show, will discuss the hidden destruction of the Appalachian Mountains February 4.  The Mountaintop Removal Road Show includes a stunning 22-minute slide show about the impacts of mountaintop removal on coalfield residents, communities and the environment, and features traditional Appalachian mountain music and shocking aerial photos of decapitated Appalachian Mountains.

The speech will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Marshall J. Parker Auditorium in Oconee Hall.  The event, which is sponsored by The Tri-County Environmental Club, is free and open to the public.

After 20 years working as a mechanical engineer in various industries, most recently at the 3M plant in Cynthiana, Kentucky, Cooper decided to devote his full attention to environmental issues after seeing a mountaintop removal mine on Kayford Mountain, West Virginia.
