PENDLETON --- Veteran photographers Clark Webb and Butch Merritt will share their trade secrets in a first-of-its-kind wedding photography seminar offered by Tri-County Technical College this fall.

Clark and ButchThe seminar is aimed at those individuals who would like to break into the wedding photography business.

Webb, of Pendleton, and Merritt, a Piedmont resident, recently combined their wedding photography experience into one business. They have joined forces to offer this workshop which will feature their combined half-century of experience in wedding photography.

Both have both taught photography at the college level and have built very successful businesses. They agree that quality images and quality service are two of the keys to success. "The wedding day for a bride and groom is one of the most special occasions in their lives. They should never trust anyone who doesn't have the experience, equipment and background to capture their special day. All the necessary topics will be included in the workshop," said Webb.

"A wedding photographer needs to blend into the day and to capture the events in a professional manner without distracting from the ceremony. He or she should record beautiful images that the couple can cherish for the rest of their lives," said Merritt. "A wedding photographer should be fast, proficient and still maintain quality images," he added.

Photographing a wedding is challenging, somewhat stressful and pushes the photographer's skills to the limit, said Webb. "This workshop will cover all of the factors that can make it a successful day for all. A topic that most don't understand is how to deal with all of the different personalities of the wedding party," said Webb.

The way you treat others is critical, agreed Merritt. "The bride wants the day to be perfect, and the groom is worried if the limousine will arrive on time. The last thing they need is a photographer who doesn't know how to treat people. The workshop will stress the rapport and trust that needs to be established with the entire wedding party early on."

They also will demonstrate how to combine traditional wedding photos with the latest photojournalistic approach to capturing the ceremony. Included in the discussion will be medium format, 35-mm photography and digital photography. Visit the websites of Webb and Merritt today at www. clarkwebb.com and butchmerrittphoto.com.

Enrollment will be limited. Contact Tri-County Technical College at (864) 224-0453 at the Anderson Mall to enroll.
