ANDERSON --- Tri-County Technical College is asking area runners to participate in a 5K Race this Memorial Day weekend – just for the health of it.
“Run for the Health of It” is the tagline for the College’s first annual Tri-County Road Race set for May 29 at 8 a.m. at its Anderson Campus. The race starts and ends at the Anderson Campus located at 511 Michelin Boulevard.
Proceeds will go toward health education student scholarships and other program needs.
“This is the first signature community event for our Anderson Campus,” said Rebecca Eidson, Tri-County’s director of public relations. “If you are a runner and are looking for something fun and healthy to do this holiday weekend, we urge you to sign up for our race.”
Awards will go to the top three finishers in the Open and Masters categories. Also, there will be age group awards for the top finisher in each five-year category beginning with 14 and under.
Interested persons can register online at www.tctc.edu/race or download a race brochure and mail in a registration form.
Entry fees are $20 (online registration, plus a $2.50 processing fee); $23 (mail-in registration); $25 (if registered or postmarked after 5/15 -- no shirt size guaranteed); and $30 Race Day (no race pack or t-shirt guaranteed).
A student group discount of $5 per registration is available for groups of 10 or more runners sponsored by a public school or college.
