PENDLETON ---  Tri-County Technical College honored the successes of its top students with awards for excellence in academics and leadership skills at its annual award ceremony held April 22.

Keynote speaker Lenna Young, who leads the College’s Public Services Department, applauded the group for their success and said, “We feel a high sense of pride in you and we look within ourselves and think our about our sense of commitment toward meeting our personal goals and achieving success.”

She continued:  “The students we are honoring have put forth “whatever it takes” in terms of energy and commitment.  I propose to you that they had moments when doing less than their best would have been an easy choice, when slacking off was very tempting and when giving up may have crossed their minds.  But they didn’t.  Despite what I suspect were conflicts with family obligations, demanding academic pressures, balancing jobs and school and other responsibilities, they hung in there.  Thank you for reminding us to maintain the mentality of doing ‘whatever it takes.’”
