PENDLETON --- Tri-County Technical College’s Alumni Association and the Athletics Department have joined forces to co-host the Tri-County Spring Open, a golf tournament set for April 25.

Formerly the Annual Alumni Association Golf Tournament, the event will begin at noon at Brookstone Meadows in Anderson and can accommodate 120 golfers.  A $65 per person registration fee is required.  This includes cart, green fees, beverages and lunch.  Awards will be given to the winners.

“Vinson Burdette, our Athletic Director, approached me with the idea of the Alumni Association and the Athletics Department coming together for a joint fundraiser as a way to benefit both,” said Angie Long, coordinator of the Alumni Relations.  “It’s a great idea because it’s a chance for our faithful alumni tournament players to participate in our very popular annual tournament and to get the word out about our athletics programs (men’s golf and soccer).  I hope we can work together on many more College projects in the future,” she said.

A 20008 automobile will be awarded for the first hole-in-one on Hole 3.  This prize is courtesy of Upstate Automotive, owned by Richard Kay.

Other generous donors include Chick-Fil-A of Seneca for providing lunch and to Outback Steakhouse for supplying dinner, which will be served during a live auction following the awards presentations.

Alumni board members urge persons and companies to consider these sponsorships:  gold ($1,500), silver ($1,000) and bronze ($500), in addition to holes at $100 each and/or carts at $25 each.

Proceeds from past tournaments have enabled the Alumni Association to endow two scholarships through the College's Foundation, to make professional development opportunities available to faculty and staff and to name a room at the Anderson Campus.

To register online, visit www.tctc.edu/golf/golf.html or contact Angie Long by e-mail at alumni@tctc.edu or by telephone at 646-1816.
