FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 9/11/2007
(By Lisa Garrett)

PENDLETON --- Tri-County Technical College will observe Constitution Day September 26 with a presentation about the Fourth Amendment by Judge G. Ross Anderson, Jr.  The Fourth Amendment guards against unreasonable searches and seizures. Judge Anderson also will address other issues related to the U.S. Constitution.

The program will be held from 1 – 2 p.m. in the Marshall J. Parker Auditorium located in Oconee Hall.  The event is free and open to the public.

The Honorable Judge Anderson is a United States District Judge in South Carolina.  He was nominated by President Jimmy Carter in 1980 upon the recommendation of Senator Ernest Hollings.  Judge Anderson received his commission May 23, 1980.

Congress declared September 17 as United States Constitution Day to celebrate the original ratification on September 17, 1787, when the 55 delegates to the Constitutional Convention held their final meeting and signed the U.S. Constitution.

The Federal government requires that all schools receiving federal funding from the U.S. Department of Education formally recognize Constitution Day.
