Handgun Safety and Proficiency Class to Be Held January 21

ANDERSON --- Tri-County Technical College will be offering a Handgun Safety and Proficiency course to allow qualifying participants to apply for a South Carolina Concealed Weapons Permit. Students will be provided with the basic knowledge and skills for the safe and proper use of a handgun.

The course will include eight hours of classroom instruction and additional time on the firing range. Topics will include weapons components and handgun knowledge, handgun safety and handling, cleaning and storage of weapons, basic shooting techniques, range safety and South Carolina law.

The classroom portion of the class will be held at the College's Anderson Mall classroom Saturday, January 21, from 8:30 am until 5:30 p.m. The firing range location and times will be announced during class. The cost is $95 per person with a special discount offered to participants who bring a friend. The instructor, John Skipper, is a retired Captain with the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office and has more than 20 years of firearms training experience. For more information, call 224-0453.
